Officiating was the Rev. Will Hassan, and the Rev. Carroll Marr. Burial was in the McCaskill Cemetery. Mr. Darnell passed away June 3, at 10:55 a.m., at Schumpert Medical Center. He was a native of Marthaville, a retired Deputy Sheriff for Natchitoches Parish, a World War II Navy veteran, and a member of the Bethany Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Juanita Darnell of Robeline; two step sons, Randall McElwee of Crowley, and Tommy McElwee of Ruston; one daughter, Kathey Devers of Shreveport; one step daughter, Sandra M. Cook of Shreveport; five sister, Augie Miller, and Billie James of Natchitoches, Ruby Skinner of Many, Julie Roberts of Houston, Texas, and Des Cash of Clayton, Alabama; two brothers, J. W. Darnell of Clinton, Oklahoma, and Phil Darnell of Natchitoches; eight grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Victor Jones Jr., Clarence Noel, DeWitt Braxton, Robert Morgan, Boyd Durr, and E. L. Moss. Honorary pallbearers were all former and present Deputies of Natchitoches Parish.
