D. Darnell Charles Druey Darnell, 54, died Friday, March 27, in a Natchitoches hospital, after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Marthaville, and a veteran of World War II. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 29, at the Bethany Baptist Church near Marthaville. The Rev. Oliver Roberts, and the Rev. J. R. Herron officiated. Military graveside rites followed in the McCaskill Cemetery, under the direction of Blanchard's Funeral Home. Survivors include four brothers, Sam Darnell, James Darnell, E. F. Darnell, all of Natchitoches, and J. W. Darnell of Clinton, Okla.; five sisters, Mrs. Sam James of Natchitoches, Mrs. Julie Roberts of Premont, Tex., Mrs. Augie Miller of Shreveport, Mrs. Dess Cash of Claton, Ala., and Mrs. Ruby Skinner of Many; his mother, Mrs. Maggie Darnell of Natchitoches.
