Louis Francis Davis, age 43, was found dead in this bed at about six o'clock Thursday morning. Louis was in Many Wednesday and seemed to be in perfect health when he retired that night. He was found head in his bed by his wife when she called him Thursday morning, he having slept in a bed by himself at his home three miles northwest of Many. No coroner's inquest was held, the cornoner, Dr. J. K. Phares visiting the body and declared that death came from heart failure probably at about eleven o' clock during the night. At the time the Index went to press early Thursday morning no funeral arrangements were made, he being from a large family, many of whom live from Many, and a little time will be required. Mr. Davis is survived by his widow, Mrs. Leattie Robinson Davis and five children, three girls and two boys. Mr. Davis was the son of Mrs. Anna and the late Francis Davis, pioneers of this section, and had spent the greater part of his life in timber and farming industries in Sabine parish. Additional Comments: Louis Francis Davis December 9, 1931 St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Many LA, Row 30 Column 7 Louis was a WWI veteran and returned from WWI on board the R.M.S. Celtic (II). His son Andrew mentioned that he was probably an Ambulance driver during the war and may have broken his arm or wrist cranking a vehicle during the war. Louis appears to have worked a few months at the C.J. Hubley store on some type of Government Rehabilitation program after the war. Head lines of the Sabine Index read: MANY TAKES ON CHIRISTMAS SPIRIT The same newspaper also had a letter written by his daughter Louise, under the LETTERS TO SANTA COLUMN. Mama didn't like to be around Chrysanthemums for many years after her father died because there were a lot of them at her dad's funeral and they either made her nauseous or just brought back bad memories.
