Patton 19 Dec 1947 - Mrs. T. R. Patton, age 70, passed away at Prothro clinic, Pleasant Hill. Funeral rites were conducted at Mt. Zion Baptist church 2 p.m. Sunday by Rev. Carpenter, assisted by Rev. Pratt McCloud. Interment was under direction Massingill funeral home. Mrs. Patton is survived by her husband, T. R. Patton and sons, Dannie, R. L., Robert and Thomas, and daughter, Mrs. Mary Bush, all of Many; brothers, D. L. Ernest Lilley, pastor East Baptist church, Mansfield, officiating, assisted by Rev. Jerry Schmucker, pastor Converse Baptist church, and Rev. H. T. Isgitt, also of Converse. Judge Edwin M. Fraser of Many, acting worshipful master for Mitchell Lodge NO. 252 F&AM, of which Mr. Slay was a a member, conducted the Masonic rites with members if Many, Zwolle, Noble, Pleasant Hill, Converse and Mitchell lodges in attendance. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Olive Allen Slay, Converse; four sons, Elmer L. Slay, Sweeney, Texas, Ray S. Slay, Kingville, Texas, O. L. Slay, Angleton, Texas, Dorsey Slay, Sweeney, Texas, Herbert Slay, Converse, a daughter, Mrs. Della Smith, Rodessa, and several grandchildren. Pallbearers were members of the Mitchell lodge No. 252 F&AM. Interment was in Oak Grove cemetery with arrangements by Drewitt funeral home, Mansfield. Mr. Slay was the sons of Wiliam Slay and Mrs. Lou Mumford Slay. He was a member of Converse Baptist church, Mitchell lodge No. 252 F&AM, the Rural Letter Carriers association and for 28 1/2 years a rural mail carrier of Converse. L. Scarbrough, in Natchitoches. Funeral rites were conducted from Westside Baptist church, Natchitoches, 10 a.m. Tuesday by Rev. J. E. Simmons, assisted by Rev. Troy Wheeler. Interment was in old Pleasant Hill cemetery, ward two Sabine parish, under direction Massingill funeral home. Pallbearers were N. Aulds, G. W. Weeks, Jeff Salter, Edward Mims, Sam Leach and Lee Jones. Surviving relatives are: daughters, Miss Gene Stringer and Mrs. Alice Stuckey, Tallulah, Mrs. E. L. Scarbrough, Natchitoches; sons, Myers Stringer, Silsbee, Texas; Jason Stringer, Buna, Texas; sisters, Mesdames Mary McCollister, M. V. Petty and W. K. Logan of Many, Mrs. A. R. Byran, Monroe, Mrs. Evie Palmer, Albuquerque, N. M.; 12 grandchildren, four great grandchildren. Mrs. Stringer had been a resident of Sabine parish for the greater part of her life.
