The Sabine Index - W. T. Bozeman

  9 Dec 1949 - Funeral rites for W. T. Bozeman, 65, who passed
away at Prothro clinic, Pleasant Hill, Nov. 27, were conducted
10:30 a.m. Tuesday of last week at Spring Ridge Baptist church by
Rev. Mrs. Aida Slayton, assisted by Revs. Strozier and
Norsworthy.

  Surviving relatives include the widow of Pleasant Hill; sons,
Charles of Baton Rouge, Conley of Fort Worth, Texas, Reecie of
Logansport, Harold, Talmadge and Asbury, all of Pleasant Hill;
daughters, Mrs. Marie Baxley, Shreveport, Mrs. Louise Boon,
Washington, D. C., Mrs. Loraine Dinkins, Pleasant Hill, and
several grandchildren.

  30 Dec 1949 - W. L. Constable, 65, passed away at his home
Dec. 21 after a long illness. Interment was in Pisgah cemetery
with Rev. C .C. Carver of Shreveport officiating. Pallbearers
were Zed Dykes, Leroy Moran, L. C. Smith, S. L. Rains, DeVance
Rains and Jesse Barton.

  Mr. Constable is survived by his widow, Mrs. Bernice
Constable; three daughters, Mrs. Helen Edminston, Shreveport,
Misses Gotha and Rebecca Constable, Robeline; two step-daughters,
Mrs. James Constable, Many, Miss Fronie Moran, Belmont; a
brother, Lee Constable, Many; two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Hoot and
Miss Mary Constable, both of Robeline, and a host of other
relatives and friends.

The Sabine Index - Mrs. Emma Dochia Elliott

  9 Dec 1949 - Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Dochia Elliott,
74, who died at the home of her daughter in Noble 8 a.m. Tuesday
were held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from Noble Baptist church with the
pastor, Rev. Jack Webb, officiating, assisted by Rev. Pierce, a
former pastor.

  Mrs. Elliott, relict of the late Jim Elliott of Noble, is
survived by four sons, S. A. and Richard Bumgardner, both of
Carthage, Texas, Guy and Otha Elliott, both of Noble; three
daughters, Mrs. W. C. McDonald, Rodessa, Mrs. Wiley Sistrunk,
Mitchell, and Mrs. Henry Robinson, Noble; two brothers, Guy
Fleming of Oak Grove and Ricahrd Fleming of Noble and 22
grandchildren.

  Interment was in Noble cemetery under direction Drewett
funeral home, Mansfield.

The Sabine Index - J. E. Leach

  2 Dec 1949 - Funeral services for J. E. Leach, 65, who died
at a Natchitoches clinic Friday morning were held Saturday from
First Baptist church, Natchitoches, with Rev. Troy Wheeler
officiating,, assisted by Rev. John Wright, Port Arthur.

  Mr. Leach is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lula Hall Leach,
Natchitoches; a daughter, Mrs. Joe Woods, Zwolle; a son, J. T.
Leach, Natchitoches; a sister, Mrs. Della McLanahan, Florien, a
brother Cade Leach, Fort Jessup; four grandchildren, Anna Bon,
Selby Jean, Jimmie and Beth Leach, all of Natchitoches.

  Pallbearers were T. J. Sibley, Charlie Monk, David Bridges,
V. G. Choate, Ted Beasley, Murl Jackson, Sam Leach and Herbert
Sibley.

  Interment was in Fern Park cemetery, Natchitoches,
with arrangements by Blanchard funeral home.

  Mr. Leach was associated with the Coca-Cola company,
Natchitoches, for more than 30 years prior to his retiring
several years ago. He was active in church and civic affairs and
was a member of Woodmen of the World and Knights of Phythias.

The Sabine Index - Rollie D. Moss

  16 Dec 1949 - Funeral services for Rollie D. Moss, 72, were
conducted at Mt. Carmel Baptist church 11 a.m. Monday by Rev. J.
H. Ricks. Interment followed under direction Massingill funeral
home.

  Surviving relatives include the widow, Mrs. Ella Moss, of Many
Rt. 4 and several nephews.

  Death came to Mr. Moss at 5 p.m. Sunday as he was
standing on the front porch of his home on Many Rt. 4 and was
struck by a bolt of lightening which knocked from the porch into
his years, resulting in instant death. The lightening struck the
back of the house and traveled around to the front. Mrs. Moss was
standing by her husband and was knocked from the porch but only
temporarily stunned.

passed away at Sabine clinic, Zwolle, Thursday of last week were
held from Prospect Methodist church 11 a.m. Friday by Rev. Jack
Webb, assisted by Rev. H. E. Chance. Interment followed under
direction Warren funeral home.

  Surviving relatives include: sons, Clarence of Hornbeck, Henry
of Many, Edgar and Lester of Clare, Melton of Florien; daughters,
Mrs. Evie Lee Walker, Clare, Mrs. Opal Walter, Clare, Miss Eunice
Savell, Florien; sisters, Mrs. Nora Russell, Fort Jesup, Mrs.
Mary Savell, Gandy; brother Willie Dalton, Gandy, Newt Dalton,
Florien, and 15 grandchildren.

  2 Dec 1949 - Funeral services for J. A. Wilson, 51, who died
at a Shreveport hospital 9 a.m. Sunday were held 2 p.m. Monday
from Pisgah Baptist church, Toro, with the pastor, Rev. W. T.
Love, officiating.

  Mr. Wilson is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mrs. E. W.
Dailey, Mansfield; four sons, Bert and J. L. of Marshall, Texas,
Harmon of Shreveport and Horace of Houston, Texas; a sister, Mrs.
William McInnis, Anacoco; two brothers, J. D. Wilson, Peason and
E. J. Wilson, Toro; a half brother, B. M. Savell, Anacoco, and
seven grandchildren.

  Interment was in Toro cemetery with arrangements by Hixon
funeral home, Leesville.

The Sabine Index - Rev. Henry T. Young

  23 Dec 1949 - Funeral rites for the Rev. Henry T. Young, 69,
were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Mt. Carmel Baptist church with
the Rev. Louis Hoffpauir of Ruston officiating. Warren Funeral
home of Many was in charge of arrangements.

  Rev. Young died at his home near Florien Sunday after a long
illness. He had been a pastor and evangelist for the past 42
years, having served in churches in Texas, Mississippi, Arkansas,
and Louisiana. Bad health caused him to retire several years ago.

  He is survived by his widow, five sons, Wilson of Sao Paulo,
Brazil, Harold of Farmerville, Hubert of Terrell, Texas, William
of Monroe, and David Young of Florien; a daughter, Mrs. Paul Todd
of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Ernest Young of Jonesville; three
sisters, Mrs. Oscar Bartlett of Shreveport, Mrs. Minnie Caraway
and Mrs. Laura Hotard, both of Jonesville and 13 grandchildren.
