The Sabine Index - Sam J. Murphy

  7 Dec 1951 - Funeral rites for Sam J. Murphy, 59, who passed
away at the veterans hospital in Alexandria after several weeks
illness Wednesday of last week, were conducted 10 a.m. Friday at
Calvary Baptist church by Rev. B. W. Hudson, pastor, and Rev. E.
E. Fields of Natchitoches. Interment was in Mt. Carmel cemetery
under direction Warren funeral home with Masonic rites at the
graveside, Leesville lodge in charge.

  Pallbearers were Clifton Massingill, C. B. Byrd, Mack Weldon,
N. L. Fisher, Georg Boyens and R. F. Shadoin, Jr.

  Surviving relatives include the widow, Mrs. Sam
Murphy, Many; a number of nieces and a nephew.

  Mr. Murphy was president of The Vernon Bank of
Leesville for 13 years, retired three years ago, and had resided
in Many since

The Sabine Index - Robert M. Pilcher

  21 Dec 1951 - Funeral rites for Robert M. Pilcher, 81, who
passed away in a hospital at Shreveport Thursday of last week
after several weeks' illness, were conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at
Beulah Baptist church by Revs. Glen Marr and Coda Salter.
Interment followed under direction Warren funeral home.

  Pallbearers were Billy Gay Gandy, Clenard Thomas, Doug Jacks,
Robert C. Pilcher, W. E. Pilcher and Leo Pilcher.

  Surviving relatives include: wife, Mrs. R. M.
Pilcher, Many; sons, Billy Pilcher Maryville, Tenn., Hoyt
Pilcher, DeQuincy, Curtis and Rolly Pilcher, Shreveport;
daughters, Mrs. Lula Fontenot, Port Neches, Texas, Mrs. Mabel
Gandy, Many, Mrs. Vera Hippler, Deweyville, Texas and Mrs. Vernon
Anderson, Shreveport; 25 grandchildren and several
great-grandchildren.

The Sabine Index - William Jefferson William

  7 Dec 1951 - Funeral rites for William Jefferson William, 72,
who expired at his home in Fisher Sunday after several months'
illness, were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fisher church.
Interment followed in Fenders cemetery under direction Warren
funeral home.

  Surviving relatives include: the widow, Mrs. Elizabeth
Williams, Fisher, daughters, Mrs. Neda McIver, Iraan, Texas, Mrs.
Edith Ott, Fisher; brothers, Henry Williams, Florien, Luther and
Harris Williams, both of Many, Chris Williams, Shreveport;
sisters, Mrs. Florence Alford, Mrs. Genia Morris, Miss Addie
Williams, Mrs. Lee Tarpley, all of Many, Mrs Lula Stroud,
Hemphill, Texas, and three grandchildren.
