Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. at the Florien Baptist Church with interment following in the Pisgah Cemetery. The Rev, James Earl Flannigan, the Rev. Ted Cabra and the Rev. Bobby Franklin officiated. Mr. Evans was the assistant fire chief at Fort Polk. Survivors include his widow, Gloria Evans; daughter, Pam Squillini and husband, Jody; son, Clint Evans and wife, Traci, all of Florien; two sisters, Mary Moats of Hornbeck and Shirley Shackleford of Garland, Texas; two brothers, Benny Evans and Lynn Evans, both of Hornbeck; three grandchildren, Cade Johnson, Elizabeth Squillini and Carlee Squillini; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his parents, Hayden and Annie Evans; one son, Edward David Evans; one daughter, Laura Lee Evans; and two brothers, Billy and Haywood Evans. Pallbearers were David Rowe, Jeff Evans, Carroll Corley, Jody Browning, Mark Evans, Billy Moats, Clint Ray and Michael Dole. Honorary pallbearers were Bryan Davis and Gabriel Chance.
