Evans Memorial services were held on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m., in the Teche Baptist Church of Centerville, for Hardy B. Evans. Evans is presumed lost at sea in a helicopter crash, which occured on Monday, Nov. 3. Evans was one of nine crewmen lost as a helicopter transported them from an oil rig in the Gulf to land. The Rev. J. P. King officiated at the services. Evans is survived by his widow, Mrs. Bettye Evans; one son, Bruce Evans; one daughter, Mrs. Melanie Titus, all of Centerville; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Evans of Florien; four brothers, Ernest Evans, and Earl Evans, both of New Caney, Texas, Travis Evans of LaPorte, Texas, and Carl Evans of New Orleans; one sister, Mrs. Ernistine Theller of Pasadena, Texas; and two grandchildren, Lisa, and Robert Titus. Donations in memory of Evans may be made to the Buddy Evans Memorial Fund for the funding of a new bus for Centerville High School.
