Grover Hieston Evans, Sr.

  Funeral services for Mr. Grover Hieston Evans, Sr. of Lufkin,
Tex., were held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, at the Gipson
Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin. Dr. Charles McIlveene officiated.
Burial followed in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park in
Lufkin.

  Mr. Evans died Tuesday, May 24, 1983, at the age of 78. He was
born in Sabine Parish, and resided in Lufkin most of his life. He
was a retired fireman, and was formerly employed by the St. Regis
Paper Co. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of
Electrical Workers, and the First Baptist Church of Lufkin.

  He is survived by one son, Grover Hieston Evans, Jr., of Lufkin;
three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Holt, Port Arthur, Tex., Mrs. Vera
Johnson, Orange, Tex., and Mrs. Audrey Jones, Florien, and a
number of nieces and nephews.
