Ebarb Sr., 68, were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 2, at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church. Officiating was Monsignor Carson LaCaze, pastor of St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church, assisted by Father Stephen Wright, pastor of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Father Walter Ebarb, and Father Martinez. Burial followed in Forest Park West. A vigil service was held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Mr. Ebarb died Tuesday, April 30, at Schumpert Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Belmont, and had been a resident of Shreveport since 1949. Mr. Ebarb was a retired sales representative for American Linen. He was a member of St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church, member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree, member of the Restaurant Association, and a great fund raiser. He was preceded in death by his son, Johnny W. Ebarb Jr.; and son-in-law, Daniel Newman. Survivors include his wife, Nell Ebarb of Shreveport; two sons, Jerry Wayne Ebarb of Shreveport, and Billy Ray Ebarb and wife Virginia Lee of Englewood, Colorado; two daughters, Janet Newman, and Becky Lockwood and husband Larry Lockwood of Shreveport; daughter-in-law, Virginia Ebarb of Shreveport; one sister, Lillie Counts of Monroe; two brothers, Wilbert Ebarb of Oakland, California, and Mike Ebarb of Monroe; nine grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Freddie King, Bill Dawson, Terry Cole, Chandler Bounds, Charles Vergo, and Larry Holland. The family requests memorials be made to St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church.
