Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 9, at 2:30 p.m., at the Ft. Jesup Baptist Church, with the Rev. Loyd Sowers officiating. Burial was at the Ft. Jesup Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Susie Estes of Merryville; his son, Charles B. Estes of Hackleburg, Ala.; his daughter, Mrs. John H. Brown of Many; 4 brothers, Horace V. Estes of Beaumont, Tex.; Pierce A. Estes of Westlake; Frazan R. Estes of Lufkin, Tex.; and J. D. Estes of Eunice; 1 sister, Mrs. Florence Smith of Merryville; 6 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Robert Estes, John H. Brown, Malcolm Estes, James L. Smith, James Cornes, and James L. Gill. Honorary pallbearers were Carl Estes, Eddie Estes, Charlie Brown, and Jim Estes.
