Eddington was killed late yesterday afternoon, when he was run over by an ice cream truck, in front of his home here. The child's father is a sports writer on the State-Times staff. The body will be at the Seale Funeral Home until 12:45 p.m., Friday. Services will be held at the First Methodist Church of Denham Springs at 1 p.m., followed by burial in Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery. Denham Springs Chief of Police, Alvin E. Corley, said the child and his mother had gone out to meet the ice cream truck. The mother bought some merchandise from the truck driver, Lawrence Hull, Rt. 2, Antioch Rd., Baton Rouge, the chief said, and started back into the house. Corley said the driver said the child started to follow his mother into the house. The ice cream salesman closed the door in the back of his truck, walked around and got back into the vehicle, and started off, the chief said. The child apparently had walked in front of the truck, out of range of the driver's vision, Corley said. The driver stopped when he realized that he had run over the child. Bruce was the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Eddington of Many, La.
