Dr. Adrian Pater, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Pleasant Hill, officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of Drewett Funeral Home of Mansfield. She died at 5:20 p.m., Friday, June 11, at Willis-Knighton Medical Center in Shreveport, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Edwards, business manager for the Pleasant Hill Hospital, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Retired Officers Wives Association, and the American Medical Records Association. She is survived by four sons, James J. Newsom, James H. Edwards, Bruce L. Edwards, all of Shreveport, and Glenn K. Edwards of Virginia Beach, Va.; one daughter, Bonnie E. Hight of Haughton; three brothers, Robert W. LaFitte of Raymond, Miss., William "Pete" LaFitte of Haughton, and Glenn LaFitte of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one sister, Ms. Dorothy LaFitte of Alexandria; and nine grandchildren. The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, or charity of donor's choice.
