All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Pearl Thomas Edwards Funeral services for Pearl Thomas Edwards, 73, of Many, were held at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church on Saturday, June 12, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Loyd Davis, pastor, officiated at the services. Burial was in the church cemetery, under the direction of the Winnfield Funeral Home of Natchitoches. Mrs. Edwards had resided in Detroit, Mich., for the past six months. She was the second of nine children born to the late Andrew and Laney Thomas. She joined the St. Matthew Baptist Church of Creston at an early age, and after moving to Many, joined the Kings Chapel A.M.E., and then the New Jerusalem Baptist Church. She was a member of the Banner Court No. 37, and Howard Castle No. 4890 of Many. In Nov. 1928, she married Albert Edwards, and to this union, five children were born. Two preceded her in death. Survivors include three sons, Lee Bert Edwards, Floyd Edwards, and Charles Edwards, and their wives; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Ella J. Spark of Detroit, Mich., and Eliza J. Williams of Kansas City, Mo.; three brothers, Cola Thomas of Los Angeles, Calif., and Bennie, and Sam Thomas of Detroit, Mich., and many nieces, and nephews, and friends.
