The Rev. Marshall Ingalls officiated. Eulogy was given by Maxim Larsceingue. Burial was in Noble Cemetery in Noble, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many. Mr. Edwards passed away on Sunday, September 17, in Willis Knighton North Medical Center in Shreveport. He was a resident of Noble for the last ten years, and previously resided in Houma and Lafayette. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Valley of Lake Charles, and Four Rivers Blue Lodge #369. A Masonic service was celebrated for the services, and a DVA ceremony was held at graveside. Mr. Edwards was a member of the Noble Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy, aboard the U.S.S. Hendry. He was employed by Penrod Drilling Co. of Dallas, Tex., for 33 years, retiring in 1985. Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Elaine Edwards; and both parents, Johnnie Marion Edwards, and Lillie Mae Davis Edwards of Jonesville, La. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Robbie Jean Adkins Edwards of Noble; four sons, Robert John Edwards and his wife Sally of Converse, Michael A. Edwards and his wife Maxine of Lafayette, James T. Edwards and his wife Terri of Lafayette, Douglas Wayne Edwards and his wife Robbie of Florien. He is also survived by three daughters, Mary Lou Larsceingue and her husband Maxim of Euless, Texas, Carolyn Edwards Alleman and her husband Rod of Mire, and Jo Ann Laxton and her husband Mike of Mandeville; three sisters, Annie Lee Taylor, Nellie Davis, and Dorothy Freeman, all of Jonesville; four brothers, Johnnie Frank Edwards, and Robbie Joe Edwards, both of Jonesville, and Howard Paul Edwards, and Norman Edwards, both of Ferriday; sixteen grandchildren; two step grandchildren; one great grandson; and a host of loving friends, and nieces, and nephews. Pallbearers for Tuesday's service were Robert Edwards, Mike Edwards, James Edwards, Doug Edwards, Maxim Larsceingue, and Rod Alleman. Honorary pallbearers were R. J. Edwards, Brandon Fontenot, Tryte Edwards, Bruce Adkins, Bob Thompson, Joe Benefield, Fred Stagg, Albert James, Mike Laxton, B. B. Hare, Clint Edwards, Joel Weldon, Johnnie Edwards, Paul Edwards, Robbie Edwards, Norman Edwards, Sonny Davis, and David Freeman.
