All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Samuel Charles Edwards Samuel Charles Edwards, the oldest citizen of Zwolle, died on Monday, January 5, at 2:30 a.m., in the Louisiana Nursing Home of Shreveport. Charley Edwards, as he was known by his friends, celebrated his 100th birthday in September. He was given a party by the nursing home, and received a telegram of congratulations from President Ford. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 10, at 1 p.m., at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Zwolle. Officiating will be the Rev. E. H. Hall. Burial will be in the Zwolle Cemetery, under the direction of Jenkins Funeral Home of Many. Survivors include one son, Henry Charles Edwards of Stuttgard, Ark.; one brother, Lawrence Edwards of Oakdale; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary E. Scott of Oakdale, Mrs. Mable Varson of Alexandria, and Mrs. Werder Loran of Houston.
