All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Eddie Lee Ellzey Eddie Lee Ellzey died Saturday, Oct. 27, at 11:40 a.m., in his residence in Westlake, after a brief illness. Funeral services were held in the Hixson Funeral Chapel Monday, Oct. 29, with the Rev. F. C. Thompson officiating. Burial followed in Echo Cemetery in Echo. A native of Florien, Mr. Ellzey had resided in Westlake most of his life, He was owner and operator of Dup's Restaurant, and former owner of Motorama Used Cars. Mr. Ellzey was at one time a well known fast pitch softball pitcher in the area. Having been a most valuable player in high school basketball and football, he continued an interest in the school activities. He boosted the teams and traveled with them most of the time. Seats were reserved in the Chapel for the Westlake High School basketball team. Many high school students attended the funeral services. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lovanna Ellzey, three sons, Mike Ellzey, and Dana Ellzey, both of Baton Rouge, and Eddie L. Ellzey Jr. of Westlake; one daughter, Shonda Ellzey of Westlake; his mother, Mrs. Edna Ward of Westlake; two brothers, Billy Ellzey of Westlake, and Don Ward of Ragley; four grandchildren, and several relatives in the Florien area. Pallbearers were Jimmy Ashworth, Dolin Kile, P. A. Griffin, Earl Collier, Newton Chelette, and Joe Kirk.
