She was the daughter of Mrs. Amos Davis Ponder, a resident of Hueytown for 14 years. She was a graduate of Northwestern State College, was associated with Natchitoches Parish welfare Dept., and taught Pleasant Hill High School. Mrs. Elders was a member of North Highlands Baptist Church and was employed by the Department of Pensions and Security. Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 31, at 11 a.m. in Brown's Funeral Home in Bessemer, Ala. Survivors include her husband, Garland P. Elders, a son; Tommy Elders, a daughter; Garland Ann Elders, her mother; Mrs. Ida Ponder of Pleasant Hill, a sister; Mrs. S. W. Cappell of Alexandria, and a brother; I. M. Davis, Jr. of Mills, Wyo.
