Clayton English

  Services for Mr. Clayton English, 84, of Converse, were held at
3 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 2, at the Union Springs Baptist Church in
Converse. The Rev. Newton Smith, the Rev. Shannon O'Glee, and the
Rev. James Myers officiated. Burial was at Pollard Cemetery near
Converse, under the direction of Drewett Funeral Home in
Mansfield.

  Mr. English died Sunday, August 31, 1986, in Mansfield, after a
brief illness. He was born in DeSoto Parish, and was a lifelong
resident.

  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mable Whitlock English; one
daughter, Mrs. Mary Louise Salley; a son-in-law, Mr. C. W.
Salley; two grandsons, Ricky Salley, and Ronnie Salley; two great
grandchildren, Tina Salley, and Joshua Lynn Salley, all of
Converse; and one brother, Coyt Smith of Port Arthur.
