"Ted" Engels, were held on Thursday, October 13, at 11:30 a.m. Rev. McGough, and Rev. Danewood Stroud officiated. Mr. Engels passed away on Monday, October 10, 1994, at his residence on Toledo Bend Lake, Many. Mr. Engels was born in Baker, La., and was a resident of Baton Rouge for several years. He was a retired captain, Tampa Fla. Fire Dept., 1972, and Insurance Agent, 1992, Veteran of the U. S. Air Force, Korean Conflict, member of Pendleton Assembly of God Church, Many, Disabled American Veterans, and Aimwell Volunteer Fire Dept., Toledo Bend Lake, Many, and a graduate of Catholic High School, class of 1951, Baton Rouge. Survivors are his widow, Margaret Acosta Engels of Many; former wife, Violet Zeto Engels; a son, Theon C. Engels Jr.; two daughters, Brenda Holbin, and Denise Gaarder of Tampa, Fla.; a stepfamily, Jeff and Jeannie Mauterer of Walker, La.; seven grandchildren, Amber, and Christina Holbin, Wayne Jr., Leslie, and Chris Gaarder of Tampa, Fla., Jonathan, and Jamie Mauterer of Walker; four sisters, Anna Babin, Julia Watts, Sally Nijoka of Baton Rouge; Jean Hall of Galveston, Tex.; five brothers, Arthur, Bert, Henry, all of Baton Rouge, Marionneax of Branson, Mo., and Rev. Eugene Engels of Plaquemine, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Engels was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Engels Sr. and Myrtis M. Engels; and brother Frederick Engels. His body was donated to cancer research, LSU Medical School, Shreveport, and ashes will be interned in Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge, at a later date. Mr. Engels requested memorials be given to Youth Building Fund of Pendleton Assembly of God Church, Highway 6, Many, La. 71449.
