Erickson Velma Fondren Erickson, 84, of Shreveport, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, in Schumpert Medical Center, after a lengthy illness. The Zavalla, Texas native had lived in Shreveport 10 years, and was a member of the USO, the League of Women Voters, Beta Study Club, and Baton Rouge's Naomi Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Erickson was a patroness of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. The funeral was at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24, in Anacoco Baptist Church, with the Rev. Homer Fondren, a Baptist minister, officiating. Burial was in Anacoco Cemetery. Mrs. Erickson's survivors include her husband, Eric L. Erickson; a son, William Erickson of Paola, Kan.; a daughter, Mrs. Maurice Chamblee of Shreveport; four sisters, Mrs. L. B. Youngblood of Hearne, Texas, Mrs. C. L. Walker, and Mrs. Hassie Leach, both of Hornbeck, and Mrs. Dave Stokes of San Antonio, Texas; and two brothers, H. V. Fondren of Morgan City, and Baxter Fondren of St. Amant.
