Funeral services were held at Aimwell Baptist Church on Jan. 8. Brother Steve Neesley, and Brother Charles Duncan officiated. Glenda Neesley provided musical selections. Mrs. Folden, a native of Sabine Parish, was the daughter of the late Van Arthur Wedgeworth, and Flora Pilcher. Since 1973, she had resided on Toledo Bend Lake near her parent's home. Vandene was a graduate of Alliance High School, and attended Normal State College (now Northwestern State University in Natchitoches). After teaching for a short while, she made a career as a case worker for the State of Louisiana Welfare Department (now Office of Community Services). Although she retired in 1975, she continued to be active in service to others. She was an active member of Aimwell Baptist Church, and taught children in Sunday School for many years. She also volunteered her time visiting the ill and homebound in the community. Vandene was a woman with a giving heart, who was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother, and a faithful friend to many. She will be missed by all who knew her, but there was great peace in knowing that her spirit of generosity lives on in all those who opened their hearts to her. Survivors include one sister, Libby Mercer; and one brother, Robert Ray Wedgeworth; two daughters, Kay Bray and husband Greg Gilman, and Sandi Horn and husband Don Horn; and two grandsons, Joe, and James Ivy of Lafayette; an aunt, Thelma Love of Shreveport; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Bray Stanfield; two sons, Michael, and Mark Bray; four brothers, Elzie Wedgeworth, Raymond Wedgeworth, James "Buster" Wedgeworth, and Troy Wedgeworth; and by her husbands, Edward C. Bray, and Frank Folden. The pallbearers were Eddie Wedgeworth, Stanley Mercer, Wayne Wedgeworth, Charles Pilcher, Greg Gilman, and Don Horn. The family wishes to thank all the warm and attentive physicians, nurses, technicians, therapists, and support staff of Our lady of Lourdes Hospital, who worked so diligently to provide the best healthcare possible.
