They were the children of Lucky, and Gladys Flemons. The children, whose age ranged from 2 months to 4 years, were alone in the house when it happened. The mother had gone to the beauty shop, and the father had gone for a shoe shine when the tragedy happened. The victims were identified as Rhonda, age 4, Keith, age 2, Lucky Joseph, age 1, and Sara, age 2 months. Another child, Frank Martin, age 6 was saved by a 15 year old boy, Joseph Williams. His sister, Clara Mae Williams happened to look out their back door, and saw the fire and called out to the neighbors. Then her brother ran, and was able to save the one child, but the flames were too bad for him to go back into the building. The six year old child said that he was playing with a gas heater and matches, and the heater exploded, setting the curtains on fire, and burning the house.
