All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Minnie Cole Flournoy Services for Mrs. Minnie Cole Flournoy, 76, were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 2, 1993, at Rose-Neath's Marshall Street Chapel. Officiating was the Rev. Barry Hughes, associate pastor of First United Methodist Church, assisted by Dr. D. L. Dykes, pastor emeritus of First United Methodist Church. Entombment was at Forest Park Mausoleum. Mrs. Flournoy, born June 16, 1916, at Pargoud Plantation in Monroe, La., was a former resident of Monroe, and had lived in Shreveport all of her married life. She died suddenly at home, after a brief illness, February 28, 1993. Mrs. Flournoy, a housewife, graduated from the All Saints High School in Mississippi, and attended the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, DAR, Junior League, Woman's Department Club, and Colonial Dames. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wise Flournoy Jr., and three sisters, Georgine Holmes, Mable Ratliff, and Frances Smelser. Survivors include one daughter, Frances Flournoy of Shreveport; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dan Flournoy and wife Ruth of Houston, Tex., Cole Flournoy and wife Cornell of Shreveport; grandchildren, Sarah and John Flournoy II of Houston, Tex., Millie and Grady Flournoy of Shreveport; niece, Charlotte Smith of Columbia, La.; nephew, Shove Holmes of Zwolle, La.; and a very special friend, Janie Davis Flournoy of Shreveport. Pallbearers were Bob Clifton, John Clifton, Charles Flournoy, Clay Flournoy, Craig Flournoy, Shove Holmes, David Malone, John Nicholson, George Smelser, and Perry Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Jake Bosley, Jack Beaird, Bob Davis, Delton Harrison, Claude Rives III, Lewis Robinson, Armand L. Roos, and Armand W. Roos.
