Funderburk, 89, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at Sabine Medical Center in Many. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Nov. 10, at Trinity Baptist Church in Many, with interment following at Kisatchie Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Dan Franklin officiated, and the Rev. Truman Leach assisted. Mr. Funderburk was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church. He was the owner and operator of C. B. Esso, and later the owner and operator of the Star Lite Motel in Many. Survivors include the mother of his children, Mrs. Eunice Funderburk; two daughters, Jackie Oxley of Ft. Jesup, and Mona Jane Biringer of Many; two sons, Jeryl D. Funderburk of Daphne, Ala., and Larry D. Funderburk of Zwolle; sister, Sybil Beasley of Baton Rouge; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Mr. Funderburk was preceded in death by his parents, Christopher and Panola Funderburk; and two sisters, Bena Rushing, and Artie Hayes. Pallbearers were Mike Funderburk, Ben Speights, Jody Skinner, Jimmy Durr, Jeryl Funderburk, and Larry Funderburk. Honorary pallbearers were Bob Barber, and Jerry Brown.
