Elam, 79, died at his home near Natchitoches Sunday, Feb. 10. Funeral services were conducted at Union Baptist church, Belmont, Monday, Feb. 11, with Rev. O. S. Roberts, pastor, officiating. Mr. Elam lived at Belmont many years ago. When a young man he was united with Union church. He was a nephew of the late John Bullard. Mr. Elam was never married. He is survived by four sisters, Mrs. J. M. Sutton, San Angelo, Texas, Mrs. R. H. Burnell, Palestine, Texas, Mrs. J. M. Slay, San Angelo, Texas, Mrs. C. C. Haley, Dallas, Texas; two brothers, H. S. Elam, Hope, Ark., E. J. Elam, Dallas, Texas, with a number of nieces and nephews. Maloney, were held at Warren funeral home at 10 a.m. Friday of last week by Rev. J. H. Ricks. Interment followed in Jerusalem cemetery under the direction of Warren funeral home. Pallbearers were: T. M. Phillips, J. B. Vandegaer, Joe Henry, John Oliver, J. F. Cobb and Louis Alford. Mrs. Maloney passed away Feb. 13 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Minnie Semon, near Many. Igene Speight 1 Feb 1952 - The remains of Pvt. Igene Speight, 21, who was killed in action in Korea, Nov. 6, 1951, were finally laid to rest Monday after funeral services were conducted at Little Flock Baptist church at 10 a.m. by Rev. Earl Myers, assisted by Rev. Cody Salter. The American Legion was in charge of rites at the graveside. Interment was under direction of Waren funeral home and the pallbearers were members of the American Legion. Surviving relatives include: parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Speight, Clare; brothers, W. P., Edward, C. W. and Cedric Speight, all of Clare and Pvt Eugene Speight of the U. S. army; sisters, Mrs. Audrey Walker and Mrs. Hattie Savells, both of Clare; grandmother, Mrs. W. A. Speight, Clare.
