Gay 10 Feb 1939 - Last rites for Louis B. Gay, age 55 years, well known Colfax planter and former lumberman, who died after a lingering illness, was held at the family residence. Rev. J. C. Rousseau, pastor of the Colfax Methodist church, officiated with Rev. T. J. Holladay of Zwolle assisting. Mr. Gay was a member of the Methodist church, the Masons, and a Shriner. He was well known in Many, having many friends here. He was born in Robeline in Many, 1883, moved to Zwolle 1898, received his schooling in Zwolle and Centenary college at Jackson, was with the Sabine Lumber company at Zwolle for years, going to Colfax later with the Big Pine Lumber company. While at Colfax he was married to Miss Vera Fraser of Mansfield. He remained with the Big Pine company until they cut out, after that going to Oakhurst, Texas, for a short wile, later returning to Colfax where he operated his plantation. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Vera Fraser Gay; two sons, Robert F. and Louis B. Gay, Jr., a daughter, Mandalou Gay; a brother, R. L. (Fayette) Gay of Zwolle, and two sisters, Mrs. T. C. Webb of Baton Rouge, and Mrs. W. H. H. Moore of Holopaw, Fla.
