The Rev. Bruce E. Garner officiated. Sister Gay was born on Jan. 12, 1912, to Mr. Augusta (Cap) Webb, and Mrs. Millie Farris Webb. She departed this life Jan. 17, 2001, at IHS South, Many. She was married to the late Mack Gay on June 6, 1928, and to that union no children were born. She was the oldest of four children; two preceded her in death, Earnest (Son) Webb, Sr., and Earl Lee (Red) Webb. Sister Gay was converted and baptized at an early age. She united with the Bright Star Baptist Church in 1928, after moving to the Florien community. She served faithfully in this local body, as church clerk for over 50 years, mission president for 45 years, and numerous other auxiliaries, as well as district offices. Sister Gay was a lovable character, a person everyone chose to have as a friend, and willing to be a friend to all. She leaves to mourn her passing, a devoted and loving sister, Mrs. Mildred McClanahan of Florien; a caring and attentive nephew, David McClanahan of Florien; two very special nieces, Louise Harris of Texas City, Texas, and Loretha Johnson of Dallas, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
