Gibson 13 Jul 1951 - 13 Jul 1951 - Last rites for Lt. John G. Gibson, 34, who passed away at Fraser sanitarium after a few days illness Friday were conducted at Many Methodist church 5:30 p.m. Saturday by Rev. A. O. Youngblood, assisted by Rev. K. G. McDowell. Interment was in Many cemetery under direction Warren funeral home. Pallbearers were Johnny Mowad, Harold Andries, Wade Kennedy, Otis Jones, Truman Oxley and John H. German. Surviving relatives include: the widow, Mrs. Josephine B. Gibson, Many; mother, Mrs. S. A. Holt, Shreveport; father, Lonnie M. Gibson, Hornbeck, and sister, Miss Joy Gibson, Shreveport. Lt. Gibson was a veteran of World War II having served in the European theatre. He was officer in charge of the local national guard armory and active in military veterans organizations. Lt. Gibson came to Many soon after he was honorable discharged from the army in 1946, after five years of service. He played an active part in the building of the local V. F. W. home, being vice-commander when it was erected, He assisted in the organization of the local company of the national guard of which he was warrant officer. He was held in high esteem in both the national guard and the V. F. W. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Masonic lodge.
