Officiating was the Rev. Clifford McCall, pastor of Keithville United Methodist Church. Burial was held in Forest Park West Cemetery. Mrs. Gabel died Tuesday, April 12, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Cotton Valley, La., was a former resident of Monroe, La., and had resided in Shreveport most of her life. Mrs. Gabel was a registered nurse, having worked as a nurse at the Caddo Oaks State Hospital, V.A. Medical Center, and Conway Hospital in Monroe, La. She was an active member of Keithville United Methodist Church, serving in the choir. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Gabel, baby Edward Lee Fallis, and parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Richey. Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Lynch East of Shreveport; two sons, Richard E. Fallis, James D. Fallis and wife Nancy, all of Keithville; grandchildren, Chris, Patrick, and Sean Lynch, Lindsey, and Jesse Fallis; two step grandchildren, Toni Downs, and Jon Blunt; seven sisters, Ruby Burns and husband Chester, DeBerry, Tex., Sarah "Maggie" Barnes and husband Jessie, Keithville, La., Mallie Litton, Pleasant Hill, La., Carrie Laffitte and husband Mac, Saralene Touchton, Barbara Wedgeworth and husband David, Patricia Cooper and husband Bud, all of Pelican, La.; one brother, Charles Richey and wife Barbara, Pelican, La.; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Jessie Barnes, David Wedgeworth, Paul Burns, Craig Burns, Henry Touchton, and Bud Cooper. Honorary pallbearers will be Chester Burns, Mac Laffitte, Thomas Litton, and Billy Joe Blankenship. The family suggest memorials may be made to the Keithville United Methodist Church, or the Schumpert Cancer Treatment Center. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Chris McDonald, and the staff of Schumpert Cancer Treatment Center.
