Mrs. J. A. Givens

  Mrs. J. A. Givens, 87, of Shreveport, and mother of Mrs. O. L.
Salter of Zwolle, passed away on Jan. 2, at a Shreveport
hospital. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Otis
Spinks, assisted by the Rev. Vernon Fairley, in the chapel of the
Rose-Neath Funeral Home, on the afternoon of Jan. 4.

  Mrs. Givens is a former resident of Florien, and had lived in
Shreveport for the past 25 years. She was an active member of the
Summergrove Methodist Church.

  Born in Salada, S. C., she is survived by her husband, J. A.
Givens of Shreveport; one son, Wayne of Shreveport; three
daughters, Mrs. John Lawhorn, and Mrs. Frances Johnson, both of
Shreveport, and Mrs. O. L. Salter, Zwolle; two sisters, Mrs. Emma
Pace, Gibsland, and Mrs. Jesse Ouzts of Wareshoals, S. C.; 11
grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
