Officiating will be the Rev. Gary Orr of Southside Baptist Church in Mansfield, and the Rev. Billy Pierce of Cypress Baptist Church in Benton, La. Burial will be at Mitchell Cemetery in Mitchell. Mr. Gates was born in Mitchell, La., and had lived in Mansfield 26 years. He died Tuesday, December 18, 1984, at his home, after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Natalie Brown Gates of Mansfield; two daughters, Myra Odum of Benton, La., and Theresa Spears of Houma, La.; two sisters, Mary Drucie Brown of Mitchell, and Annie Alma Free of Marthaville, La.; one brother, William Daniel Gates of Pleasant Hill, La.; four grandchildren.
