Mrs. Sadie Bee Gates

  Services for Mrs. Sadie Bee Gates, 68, of Converse, were held at
2 p.m., Sunday, May 5, at the First Baptist Church in Converse.
The Rev. James Miller officiated, assisted by the Rev. Jerry
Lawson. Burial was at Converse Cemetery. Plans were under the
direction of Drewett Funeral Home in Mansfield, La.

  Mrs. Gates, a resident of Converse for 27 years, died Friday,
May 3, 1985, in Pleasant Hill, after a lengthy illness.

  She is survived by her husband, Mr. Harold Gates of Coushatta,
La.; her mother, Mrs. Lurline B. Free of Pleasant Hill, La.; four
brothers, James A. Free of Pleasant Hill, Franklin Free of
Sulphur, La., W. A. "Tim" Free of Orange, Texas, and Melton Free
of Pleasant Hill; and a number of nieces and nephews.
