Mr. Eugenio C. Gutierrez

  Eugenio C. Gutierrez, 62, of Houston, formerly of Mathis, Texas died
Wednesday, January 12, 2000. Rosary was held Friday, 7 p.m. at the
American Legion Hall in Mathis, Texas. Funeral Mass was celebrated at
1 p.m. Saturday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Jose
Salazar officiating.

  Burial followed in the Descanso Eterno (Eternal Peace) No. 2 in Mathis,
Texas. Pallbearers were Joe, David, Daniel, and Robert Gutierrez, Jr.,
Alfonso Rios and Santos Herrera.

  Mr. Gutierrez was born March 13, 1937, in Karnes City, Texas to Miguel
and Isabel (Coronado) Gutierrez. Survivors include his widow, Alicia
Bergara Gutierrez of Houston; four daughters, Eylda G. Thaxton of Florien,
Elma Gutierrez, Irene Gonzales and Ellen Strubelt, all of Houston; three
sons, Joe Gutierrez of Mathis, and Richard and Jacob Gutierrez, both of
Houston; a sister, Josefa Aguirre of Mathis; two brothers, Raul and Flavio
Gutierrez, both of Mathis; and 13 grandchildren.
