Gill, 82, of Shreveport, died at 1:55 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 11, at the Virginia Hall Nursing Home, after a short illness. A native of Sabine Parish, the Rev. Mr. Gill lived in Shreveport for 20 years, and served 56 years as a Baptist minister, before retiring. He was a member of the Janet Lane Baptist Church. The funeral was held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the Janet Lane Baptist Church, with the Rev. Alfred Mitchell, pastor of Southside Baptist Church, Mansfield, officiating. He was assisted by the Rev. Douglas Burnley, pastor of Janet Lane Baptist Church. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Mansfield, under the direction of Wellman Funeral Home. The Rev. Mr. Gill is survived by his widow, Mrs. Hazel Gill of Shreveport; two sons, L. F. Gill of Shreveport, and J. Truett Gill of Artesia, N. M.; twin daughters, Mrs. Edward Baggett of Shreveport, and Mrs. Clyde Stovall of Coushatta; three stepchildren, Mrs. E. A. Lafitte Jr. of Mansfield, Keith Bates of Shreveport, and Mack Bates of Mansfield; three brothers, Linder Gill of Elizabeth, John L. Gill of Las Cruces, N. M., and Ceddie Gill of Alexandria; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
