Mrs. Betty Reed Gewin

  Mrs. Betty Reed Gewin, 71, of Pleasant Hill, died Tuesday, July
25, 2000, after a brief illness, at the Satellite Rehab Hospital
in Natchitoches.

  Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 28, at First
Baptist Church of Pleasant Hill, with interment following at
Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Thibeau officiated, and Dr.
Vernon Stephenson assisted.

  Survivors included one daughter, Sandra Frankell and husband,
Nick of Pleasant Hill; four grandchildren, Tammi Frankell, Danny
Frankell and wife Kim, Michael Frankell, and Gwen Frankell; and
two great grandchildren, Colby and Jordan. Mrs. Gewin was
preceded in death by her husband, Louis Hugh Gewin; parents,
Jackson Singleton Reed, and Bertha Mae Woods Reed; and brother,
Hoyt Jackson Reed.

  Pallbearers were Doyle Stockton, Clarence Gewin, Paul Gewin,
Thurman Marr, Guffy Lynn Pattison, and Seborn Roach, Honorary
pallbearers were Harold Dillard, and Junior Golden.
