E. Gandy, Mrs. W. D. Self and Mrs. W. A. Harrington. On October 31, 1898, her husband, died leaving her and three small children. Widow and orphans to battle for life the next seven years. In March 1905 she was married to John Gandy and to this union one daughter was born, Mrs. Ocia Leach. For the next 22 years she was truly a help-mate to Bro. Gandy. The writer is not informed about her early Christian life, but for the last several years she has cast her lot with the Holiness movement as proclaimed at Fort Jesup Camp for the last three decades past. In the last year of her life she joined the Nazarene church as a charter member. During the past years, while the writer was her pastor, having been in her home several times, he was shown all the kindness and hospitality that the home could afford. She was always found at church when physically able to be there. Sister Gandy was one of the "old-timers", who did her bit in house or field. Her last sickness was short, taking her bed on Saturday and died the next day. She suffered much during those last hours but bore it with patience. On April 24, 1927, the eternal summons come and she crossed over the great divide. She leaves to mourn her death, one brother, two half-brothers, one half-sister, her husband and four daughters.
