Mrs. Gentry, 79, died Thursday, Jan. 30, at Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport, following a long illness. The Rev. I. D. Noble, assisted by the Rev. Ed Fenton, officiated. Burial was in Bethany Cemetery, under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches. Mrs. Gentry, a native of Cloutierville, was preceded in death by her husband, Edward E. Gentry, Sr. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. C. F. Shirley of Winnsboro, La., Mrs. Lucy Gentry Jennings, and Mrs. Evelyn Sutton, both of Shreveport; two sons, Edward E. Gentry, Jr. of Bossier City, and Robert Gentry of Many, La.; one sister, Mrs. Florentine Smith of Cloutierville; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Pallbearers were James Shirley, David Shirley, Richard Jennings, Gilbert McMillan, Roger Smith, and Hoyt Birdwell. Honorary pallbearers were her grandsons, Jason McMillan, Billy Sutton, Terry Shirley, Landon Shirley, and Mark DeMane.
