Grove (Photo) Sgt. Kenneth E. Grove, 23, husband of the former Dorothy Savell of Many, was killed in action in Viet Nam, Dec. 15. Sgt. Grove was inducted into the Army about 1960, and received his basic training at Ft. Jackson, S. C. From there he was sent to Ft. Hood, Texas, where he was stationed about two years. He then was shipped overseas to Germany for two years. He then returned home, and was stationed at Ft. Dix, N. J., before leaving for Viet Nam last Nov. 7. Funeral services were conducted at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Dec. 26, with full military rites. Officiating was U. S. Army Chaplain Stanley O. Miller of Ft. Polk, and the Rev. C. C. Pierce. Interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many. Chosen soldiers stationed at Ft. Polk served as pallbearers. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Bruce; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James P. Grove of Parkton, Md.; and a brother, Jim Grove of Parkton. Mrs. Grove is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. N. Savell of Many.
