All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ Lizzie German Lizzie Lorena Armstrong German, eldest daughter of the late Judge William Hamilton Armstrong, and Alice Rachal Armstrong, died April 9, 1975, in the Willis-Knighton Hospital, in Shreveport. Mrs. German was born March 14, 1887. The family moved to Many in 1906. Mrs. German received her education in the Many schools, and was office assistant for Professor Walter S. Mitchell, school superintendent, before her marriage to John David German. She is survived by four sons, John H. German of Many, Robert D. German of Bellville, Ill., Harry L. German of Nacogdoches, Tex., and James S. German of Houston, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Herman Gray of Nashville, Tenn., and Mrs. Bowman Holland of Port Arthur, Tex., a sister, Miss Daisy Armstrong of Many, and 10 grandchildren. Mrs. German was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and a member of the Sabine Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. Funeral services were held at the Many First United Methodist Church on Thursday, April 10, at 4 p.m., with the Rev. Bill Sirman officiating. Burial was in the Many Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Pallbearers were T. M. Phillips, George R. Cook, Rick Tarber, Gailor Phares, Sam B. Hayes, Jim Everett, Bill Creed, and W. E. Laffitte.
