Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at New Jerusalem Baptist Church interment followed at New Jerusalem Cemetery. The Rev. Clois Rogers officiated. Mrs. Garner was the widow of the late Haywood John Garner and to this union five children was born. One child preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing, three daughters, Elzena Latimore and Mattie L. Garner both of Many and Inader Dobbins of Dallas, Texas; one son, James A. Garner of Houston, Texas; one step-daughter, Bessie Maxie and one step-son, Matthew Garner of Florien; one sister, Ola Mac Thomas of Dallas, Texas; 25 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Sister Garner finished the 10th grade in education and received a teaching certificate and taught school in Negreet. She will be greatly missed! Thomas Mortuary Many, La.
