Mrs. Minnie Garner

  Services for Mrs. Minnie Hightower Garner, 83, of 2336 Pine Hill
Road, were held at noon Monday, July 5, at New Jerusalem Baptist
Church in Many, with the Rev. R. J. McNeal, pastor, officiating.
Burial was in the Masonic Cemetery.

  Pallbearers were John R. Nelson, Wayne Nelson, Terrell Jones,
Nicky Jones, Guy Garner, and Thomas Garner.

  Mrs. Garner died Wednesday, June 30, at Virginia Hall Nursing
Home, after a long illness.

  A native of Florien, she had resided in Shreveport since 1971,
and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Many.

  Survivors include a son, T. J. Garner of Many; two daughters,
Mrs. Effie Lacy of Shreveport, and Mrs. Earnestine Nelson of
Colfax; a sister, Mrs. Fannie Batista of Oakland, Calif.; a
brother, E. H. Hightower of Many; five grandchildren; and 11
great grandchildren.
