Garner, 60, of Zwolle, died of an apparent heart attack Thursday, Dec. 18, just two days after his wife testified in the E. B. Malmay vote-buying trial in Federal Court in Shreveport. Garner was Supervisor of Transportation and Adult Education at the Sabine Parish School Board Office. Previously, he taught at Many High, and was a former principal of Zwolle Intermediate School. He held his present position for the past year. Garner had coached at several large universities before returning to his home town of Many, to instruct in the local school system. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 22.
