Greer Sr. A former Shreveporter, Marvin L. Greer Sr., 67, of Houston, died Monday, Sept. 22, in North Caddo Hospital, Vivian, after a short illness. Services were held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, in the Marshall Street Chapel of Rose-Neath Fueral Home of Shreveport, with the Rev. Earl Roderick, pastor of Hosston Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Mr. Lebanon Cemetery, Gibsland. Greer was a self-employed merchant. He was born in Nacogdoches, Tex., and had lived in Hosston for 11 years. He was a veteran of World War II, and a prisoner of war in the European theater. He was a deacon of Hosston Baptist Church. He served as chief of police in Hosston. He was a member of Gideon International. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marvin L. Greer Sr. of Hosston; a son, Marvin L. Greer Jr. of West Monroe; a sister, Mrs. W. M. Moseley of Pleasant Hill; a brother, O. B. Greer of Shreveport; and one grandson. Pallbearers were to be Paul Greer, Freddy Greer, David Bryan, Rex Bryan, Robin Bryan, W. P. Bryan, Marvin Montgomery, and David Reeder.
