Mr. Hobbs was a native, and lifelong resident of Ashley County, a retired farmer, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Hamburg. He is preceded in death by a son, James Hobbs. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margarette Etheridge Hobbs of Hamburg; two sons, Billy Hobbs of Many, and Gerald Hobbs of Dumas; two daughters, Julia Willis of Demopolis, Ala., and Martha McGarrity of Monticello; a sister, Lillie Mae Hill of Little Rock; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, April 8, 1995, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg, with Rev. Klois Hargis, and Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating. Pallbearers are Mark, James, John, and Anthony Hobbs, Dennis, and Hogan Willis. Honorary pallbearers are the J. W. Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church in Hamburg. Interment followed in the Hamburg Cemetery, under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.
