Graveside services were held at Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois. Mr. Hoffman was born Nov. 25, 1923, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and served in the Army Air Corps from 1942 - 1945. He retired from Rock Island Arsenal in 1975. Mr. Hoffman married Ellen Maxine Hendricks on June 5, 1942, in Kahoka, Maryland. He was a member of Masonic Roosevelt Lodge, and Kaaba Shrine in Davenport, and a member of the Volunteer Fire Department in Many. He is survived by his wife, Ellen of Zwolle; two sons, Randall Hoffman of Bloomington, Illinois, and Kenneth Hoffman of Leclaire, Ohio; one daughter, Marla Jo Berger of Davenport, Iowa; two brothers, Raymond Hoffman of Orians, Illinois, and Merlyn Hoffman of St. Louis, Missouri; five grandchildren, Justin, Amber, Nathaniel, Erika, and Andrea. Mr. Hoffman is preceded in death by one brother, William Hoffman of Paduka, Kentucky. The family asked that memorials be made to the Volunteer Fire Department of Many.
