Hubier 27 Sep 1957 - Elmer A. Hubier, widely known among singing conventions on Louisiana, died last Thursday in a Mansfield hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Hubier, 66, was a resident of Converse. He was secretary-treasurer of the town council at Converse for many years; lifetime president of the Sabine Parish Singing Convention, and a vice president of the Tri-State Singing Convention. He was a deacon and choir director of Converse Baptist church. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. B. F. Walker of Converse, the Rev. Jerry Schumucker of Shreveport and the Rev. H. T. Isgitt of Converse officiating. Burial, under the direction of the Drewett Funeral Home of Mansfield, was in the Converse cemetery. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Laura Burkett Hubier of Converse; one daughter, Mrs. F. R. Saly of Minden; one son, E. A. Hubier, Jr., of Converse; three sisters, Mrs. T. S. Russell of Natchitoches, Mrs. Ethel Falcon of Converse and Mrs. Edna Noel of Converse.
