Hoover Funeral services for Jimmie "J. E." Hoover, 90, were held Thursday, March 14, 1996, at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel in Shreveport. Officiating was Rev. Fisk Ray, minister to Senior Adults at Willow Point Baptist Church. Burial was in Forest Park Cemetery. Mr. Hoover died Monday, March 11, after a brief illness. He was born in Artesia, was a former resident of Shreveport, and had lived in Winthrop, Ariz. for 20 years. Mr. Hoover was a retired masonry contractor, a member of Queensboro Masonic Lodge #418, Scottish Rites, El Karubah Shrine, and Past Monarch of the Mithra Grotto. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vara Hoover. Survivors include three grandsons, Jim Britton of Rockbridge, Ohio, Bob Britton of Zebulon, N. C., and John Britton of Many; one granddaughter, Patty Carnline of Many; and great grandchildren, Jeremy, Jason, Elizabeth, and Abbie Carnline, Jacob Britton, Kim Brown, and Eddie Hall. Pallbearers were Jeremy Carnline, Jason Carnline, Bill Stephenson, M. K. Speigner, Murray McWhinney, and James Alderman. The family suggests memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
