Hayes, 52, of Blanchard, La., were held Monday, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m., in the First Baptist Church of Blanchard. Dr. James Hill, pastor of the church, the Rev. W. P. Mears, a retired Baptist minister, and the Rev. Lawrence Cocherell, pastor of Blanchard Church of the Nazarene, officiated. Graveside services followed in Warren Cemetery, at 3 p.m., under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home Marshall Street Chapel. Mr. Hayes, a native of Many, La., died Oct. 6, 1983, in Willis-Knighton Medical Center, following a sudden illness. He had been a resident of the Shreveport area since 1950, and was a former resident of Many. He had retired from South Central Bell after 33 years of service. He was a member, and deacon at the First Baptist Church of Blanchard, where he taught Sunday School for 20 years. He was also a navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marshall E. Hayes of Blanchard, his father, Mr. Thomas Jefferson Hayes of Many; two sons, Scott and Steve Hayes, both of Blanchard; two daughters, Mrs. Marsha Richie of Shreveport, and Mrs. Lisa Guin of Blanchard; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Leach of Many; one brother, Eugene Hayes of Many; and five grandchildren, Jessica Hayes, Daniel Hayes, Erin Hayes, Matthew Richie, and Keri Richie. Pallbearers were Billy Guin, Bob Guin, Jim Peck, Ronny Tibbit, Ewell Williams, Jerry Hughes, Terral Whetstone, and Louis Jones.
