Hicks, 83, of Crosby, Texas, were held at 3 p.m., Monday, May 19, at Grace United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Harold Fagan, and Olan Vaughn officiating. She died Friday, May 16, 1986, at her home in Crosby. Mrs. Hicks came to Baytown as a young girl, and attended school at the old YMCA building, where the Jewish synagogue was later built in Goose Creek. She and her husband, Austin Lafayette Hicks, moved to Crosby in November, 1925. Hicks preceded his wife in death in 1971. She was a charter member of Grace United Methodist Church, a member of Order of Eastern Star - Goose Creek Chapter No. 11, and Rebekah Lodge No. 458. She was a 64 year member of these lodges, and was also a member of the Pioneers of Baytown Club. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Austin and Minnie Hicks of Crosby, George and Alene Hicks of Irving, Texas, Roy and Margie Hicks of Dayton, Ohio, and Gene and Norma Hicks of Crosby; one sister, Bertha Raines of Many, La.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Burial was at Memory Gardens, with graveside rites conducted by the Rebekah Lodge, and Order of Eastern Star. Pallbearers were Dwayne Hill, Cecil Newton, Ronnie Hicks, Roy Cornett, Ronnie Parish, Earl Ray Hicks, Clayton McDonald, and Larry Raines. Services were under direction of Navarre's Paul U. Lee Funeral Home.
